The holder sticks securely to either the dashboard or windshield. There is a dial on the holder to allow a firm hold and to release the holder from dash and windshield.
The holder is smaller than expected, but is actually the perfect size. The holder is easy to setup and the magnet for the phone is strong and will not move while driving.
i recommend this holder for anyone needing a hands free solution for their phone while driving.
The 360° swivel makes it easy to adjust to the perfect angle, and I love that it works seamlessly with MagSafe. I’ve moved it between my car and around the house (on mirrors and metal surfaces), and it’s stayed just as steady everywhere I’ve used it.
Other reviewers mentioned that suction cup mounts can fail if not applied correctly, but I haven’t had a single issue. Just make sure you press it down firmly on a clean surface and it’s good to go.

- Easy to mount: Ive suction cupped it to smooth spots on the the dash, drivers window, drivers door, infotainment screen, rear view mirror and windshield. Ive used the included adhesive base to put it on a textured part of my dash. In every case, it was secure and never fell off, even when I suctioned it upside down to the roof!!

I love this new one. The magnetic holder feature is wonderful (if you have a newer phone that is "magsafe compatible," you really must try this). You put the phone near the right spot on the holder, and - click- it's locked on. No more squeezing a spring clip and pushing a button to release it each time.
And the vacuum lock worked great. I put it on my textured dash, and so used the included adhesive disk (to provide a non-textured surface). It was easy to install, and, after waiting for a cure time, let me lock on the holder with a quick twist. It holds my heavy phone with no problems.
Best of all, my new, larger phone is now very easy to see, making me feel like I have a near-equivalent to the Apple Car Play feature that all newer cars come with (I have a 2011 Mini Cooper, so definitely pre-Car Play).
I'm very glad I bought this every time I use it (which is almost every time I drive).
